Buchan has announced the appointment of Edward Armstrong as Senior Associate, in a move that will bolster the global practice’s health team.

Bringing two decades worth of design experience across all aspects of project delivery, Armstrong has been involved in the design phase of a number of significant health projects, including the $1.1 billion New Coomera Hospital, the $260 million Eurobodalla Regional Hospital and the $35 million Rockhampton Museum of Art (RMoA).

"Contemporary healthcare design requires clinical design expertise and the ability to incorporate public realm and placemaking strategies," Armstrong says.

"Buchan has an extensive portfolio of projects that celebrate the public realm and I’m excited to be adding to that capability."

"As an architect, I aim to create places of healing that are connected to their environment and community. Contributing to projects that form a crucial part of community infrastructure is what generates meaning for me as a practitioner."

Armstrong lends his time to mentoring the next generation of designers at the Bond University Abedian School of Architecture, as well as volunteering at the Arts in Health Program at the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Buchan Principal and Global Health Sector Lead Sandra Stewart says she looks forward to working alongside Armstrong.

"Edward is a talented designer who will bring new perspectives to our health projects nationally. We look forward to his contribution as we continue to develop hospitals and healthcare precincts with our clients.”
