The Adelaide-based Matthews Architects has confirmed it has elevated two of its staff members to leadership roles, with Sofiya Yunovidova (left) and Brayden Josephs (right) earning the titles of Associate.

Joining the practice in 2017 and 2019 respectively and completing their registrations to the architecture board in 2023, Yunovidova and Josephs are both delighted with the promotion, which will see their influence on the design and delivery of Matthews projects increase.

Yunovidova completed her studies in 2016, joining Matthews a year later. She has been involved in the completion of a number of education, residential and commercial projects, and is highly regarded by the practice for her ability to engage with clients, create concepts and oversee procurement processes.

“The entire team has been very supportive throughout my time here, and it is a fantastic opportunity to work with others of similar ages and experiences,” Yunovidova says.

“I take great pride in my role; structuring projects and overseeing their execution is where I gain valuable experience. I enjoy unravelling the complexities of a building and ensuring it's not just aesthetically pleasing but also functional."

Josephs has also been involved in a number of education projects, including St Peter’s College Big Quad. The budding architect is additionally part of the UDIA Young Professionals Community.

“Being part of a project is a very rewarding process – meeting with stakeholders, dissecting the brief, and then the benefit of seeing that through and seeing the space come alive is exciting,” Josephs says.

“I want to provide a really good service to clients, and I am grateful that Matthews allows me to do that; we have a shared value.”

Matthews Architects Managing Director Gerald Matthews says both promotions are a testament to the pair’s hard work.

“We are pleased to have had Sofiya and Brayden on board for a number of years now. We have seen them develop as architects and become more confident in leading projects,” he says.

“Their dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to our clients and team have been exemplary. We have every confidence that they will continue to thrive in their new roles and contribute significantly to the success of our firm."

Both Yunovidova and Josephs will continue to contribute to large-scale projects, as well as to the ongoing operation and growth of the business.
