Minister Bowen commended Alspec for its proactive approach to sustainability and its significant commitment to driving sustainable outcomes across Australia's built environment. The event featured detailed presentations on Alspec's company-wide initiatives to drive sustainable practices and outcomes across the business.

Sustainability Report highlights
Alspec’s inaugural Sustainability Report details the company’s comprehensive strategy for promoting environmental sustainability across its operations. Key highlights include:
1. GreenCore® low-carbon aluminium: Introduction of GreenCore®, a groundbreaking range of low-carbon aluminium products. GreenCore® products are made using low-carbon aluminium, and sourced to minimise carbon emissions. The average carbon intensity for aluminium is 16kg CO2e per kg of aluminium. The GreenCore® range boasts a carbon intensity of 8kg CO2e per kg of aluminium and 4kg CO2e per kg of aluminium for Ultra GreenCore.
2. Renewable energy initiatives: Launch of Alspec Solar, a strategic initiative to install advanced solar panel technology across all Alspec facilities and directly to Alspec’s network of thousands of aluminium fabricators, many of whom are small-medium businesses. This initiative offers a sustainable commercial and environmental solution to Alspec’s broad network of fabricator partners.
3. Commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals: Alspec has committed to six of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring that its practices and policies are aligned with global sustainability standards.
4. Ethical sourcing: Alspec places great emphasis on ethical sourcing, with aluminium supplied from low-carbon sources.
5. Recycling and waste reduction: Implementation of closed-loop systems in powdercoating lines to eliminate trade waste and comprehensive recycling programs for all scrap and offcuts.
6. Community engagement and employee wellbeing: A dedicated section outlining Alspec’s community investments and initiatives aimed at promoting health, safety, and wellbeing among employees and its partnership with various charitable causes.
7. Alspec Industrial Business Park: A substantial investment in Western Sydney with the development of the 350,000-square-metre facility in Luddenham. Located near the new Nancy Bird Walton Airport, this state-of-the-art facility will serve as Alspec’s national headquarters, exemplifying environmentally responsible design and construction.
