ASI JD MacDonald supplied their EZ Fill multi-feed soap dispensers for a major bathroom refit project at the office building located at 54 Mary Street in the heart of Brisbane.

Brisbane-based architecture studio bureau^proberts, which was engaged to carry out the refurbishment, needed to source a large selection of soap dispensers for the male, female and PWD bathrooms across 22 levels of the building. The soap dispensers also needed to be readily available in large quantities, and ideally, in a particular black matte finish.

ASI JD Macdonald was perfectly positioned to provide the solution.

Challenge

One of the project’s main challenges was the fact that the tenants were staying in the building throughout the refit. This meant that the sourced products had to be delivered in a timely manner to ensure the project could be completed on time. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic impacting the production schedules of soap dispenser manufacturers, there was no assurance of prompt delivery.

Additionally, the hygiene requirements concerning COVID-19 had to be considered in redesigning the bathroom space to ensure the amenities were safe and easy to use.

“With a lot more emphasis on how people are using soap dispensers, hand towels and hand dryers, there had to be more thought behind the proposed solutions rather than selecting the traditional paper towels or wall-mounted soap dispensers,” Saskia Ruijs, bureau^proberts associate director explained.

Solution

As Australia’s largest single supplier of hand dryers and washroom accessories, ASI JD MacDonald recommended their bench mounted and automatic EZ Fill multi-feed soap dispensing system for the Mary Street project.

“Mounted on a bench, the spout of the dispenser is directed onto the basin, which means any spillage of the soap goes directly into the basin, rather than on the bench or on the floor,” Saskia said.

Elaborating on the advantages of ASI JD MacDonald products, she said, “What’s more, there are three basins in each of the amenities, and they’re all linked together. They can be filled using a fill port mounted on the side of the bench, filling all the soap into one tank that then feeds all three dispensers at once, which is very convenient from a maintenance point of view.”

Being automatic, the soap dispensers are sensor activated and don’t need to be touched to dispense soap – yet another advantage of the product that enhanced the project especially during the pandemic.

As part of the global ASI Group, ASI JD MacDonald was able to draw stock from the parent company in the US, which allowed them to supply the product on time. They were also able to offer the right colour and finish to match the selection of matte black tapware and mirrors, resulting in hygienic, convenient and aesthetically cohesive spaces at the Mary Street office building.
