Curved windows are synonymous with Art Deco design; however, architects are finding new and exciting ways to utilise curved glass in modern design.
Whether they are sumptuous organic shapes or symmetrical curves, there's no denying the impact of curved glass.
New advancements in technology have made the possibilities endless in modern design applications.
Curved glass is not simply limited to fixed panels – there are a multitude of options. For instance, curved sliding doors or descending windows offer an opportunity to include expansive views past the 180 degrees with the option to open for seamless indoor outdoor areas. Creative Windows can offer curved window solutions in both aluminium and steel.
Peninsula House, designed by Melbourne-based firm Wood Marsh is a perfect example of what can be achieved when combining clever, thoughtful design with Creative Windows’ ability to bring the concepts to light.
Architecturally, this house was designed to mirror the contours of its environment, inviting the landscape in via expansive glazed areas and a stunning fully glazed internal garden.
Central to its design is its usage of curved windows, from the glazed courtyard enveloping the interior garden with sumptuous curves to the exterior glazing reflecting the curves of the terrain.
The Peninsula House project, which employs both aluminium and steel framed windows for different aesthetic purposes, won the 2023 Australian Glass and Window Association (AGWA) Victoria – ‘Best Residential Window and Glass project over $80K Award’.
