Darley systems meet light, airflow and aesthetic goals in Parramatta school renovation
Fixed aluminium louvres from Darley Aluminium provided the perfect solution, with the adjustable blades in the louvres allowing users to control the amount of natural light entering the room.
The renovation of Our Lady of Mercy Parramatta school in Parramatta, NSW sought to create an engaging learning environment that maximises natural light and airflow while seamlessly integrating into the building’s modern aesthetic.
Spread across three levels, this new building was added to provide students and teachers with a range of new learning facilities. A key challenge for the developers during the build was to provide shade and block out the afternoon sun, without impacting the school’s design and layout.
Fixed aluminium louvres from Darley Aluminium provided the perfect solution, with the adjustable blades in the louvres allowing users to control the amount of natural light entering the room. The blades can also be adjusted to adapt to harsh weather.
Installing fixed aluminium louvres contributed to the school’s energy efficiency by reducing their reliance on artificial heating and cooling with air conditioners. The school is now able to efficiently control the building lighting and heating by adjusting the louvres.
The 100mm x 50mm centre single glazed commercial framing system and CityView sliding windows were also installed for their ability to suit a wide range of environments, especially high traffic school areas. CityView sliding stacking doors were also installed to complement the commercial framing systems.
Darley systems used:
