A new world-class sport facility is currently being built in Brisbane at St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School as part of the Ambiwerra Sports Precinct Redevelopment.

The 10-hectare site, situated 1.5km from the main campus, currently houses the school’s sporting fields. The 5-stage masterplan for redevelopment includes the construction of an indoor multi-sports hall and education centre to be followed by a 50-metre swimming pool with 10 lanes, learn-to-swim pool and cafe.

The engineered timber structure, designed by Blight Rayner Architecture, spans over 23 metres to cover the indoor hall, adding a solid and sustainable feature to the entire development.

In a modern Designed for Manufacturing and Assembly process, where focus is made on full 3D design ‘to virtually build the structure’ before reaching site, Theca Timber was requested to engineer the structure using spruce Glulam.

The manufacturing was completed recently and Michael Davis from ATG visited us for the scheduled quality check prior to departure.
