Where architecture meets engineering…
A bespoke mix of Architectural Grey off-form concrete has been used throughout the Hawthorn home to complement the beautiful timbers and encapsulate natural light to provide a warm and stunning environment. Perfection was sought with seamless junctions, crisp and minimal transitions, derived solely from the use of natural and honest materials.
This award-winning design was made a reality by master builder Jorant, who brought concept to life from the budding dreams of architect Clinton Murray and their clients. The Architectural Grey mix used throughout the house is no ordinary concrete; in order to achieve both structural and aesthetic requirements for the design, Holcim’s Agilia was used.
Agilia is a self-levelling and self-compacting concrete that assists in creating complex off-form finishes, which are found throughout the entire Hawthorn Project.
The home features an incredibly diverse array of concrete from suspended slabs, walls, freestanding benches, in-situ single pour suspended vanities and basins, acute angled edges, and concealed rebates for glass and tracks.
This project’s success and finish along with applied cutting-edge pouring techniques earned Jorant the 2021 Master Builders Award as well as a special commendation award.
