One The Esplanade, home to the Australian headquarters of low carbon energy company Chevron, stands proudly on the banks of the Swan River in central Perth. Designed to celebrate the heritage of First Nations people and the site’s history as a gathering place, the building captures the essence of ‘coming together’ perfectly.

With the importance of continuing this heritage, architects at Hassell chose SAS740 linear metal ceilings in a bespoke WoodTones dye-sublimation finish, paying tribute to the Australian Corymbia Maculata tree, more commonly known as ‘Spotted Gum’. The system was installed throughout the staff canteen and collaboration areas, effortlessly achieving a biophilic design by bringing elements of nature into the space. The SAS740 system creates an aspect of continuity and geometry within these areas of the building allowing airflow, which is essential in high traffic areas.

In addition, the SAS330 metal ceiling system finished in RAL9003 was installed throughout the offices, communal areas and corridors. Part of SAS’ premium offering, this system provides complete design flexibility allowing for seamless service and lighting integration as well as outstanding acoustic performance.

The unique design of this building is heavily focused on the preservation of a large Moreton Bay fig tree, which holds significant historical importance to the surrounding landscape. Upon entry to the building, guests are greeted with vast open spaces and an abundance of natural light flooding the foyer. The fig tree forms the background of the main entrance, creating a natural gathering point where guests can interact.

Chevron’s new 29-storey tower provides space for more than 1,500 employees to collaborate and innovate within. The building design encourages inclusivity as well as promotes health, wellness and indigenous heritage.

One The Esplanade has been awarded 6-star Green Star rating, 5 star NABERS rating and an IWBI WELL Core Gold Certification.
